What is causing the popping or bang sound when the radio is played on my surround system?

I have a Awia surround sound system hooked to my TV, DVD player. Currently when the turner is on to AM I get a loud periodic bang or POP and the radio’s sound goes off. ANY idea on what is causing this. It happens every 3-5 minutes. Its like a static charge is causing it. I recently hooked up some equipment and problem occurred after this.
